Explores interpersonal communication as it shapes and is shaped by human relationships. Psychological theories of interpersonal communication presented with a view to explicating the processes by which people come to describe, explain, or otherwise account for the world (including themselves) in which they live. Categories of “abnormal” behavior and approaches to psychotherapy revisited from the perspective of communications theory.. Prequisite: PSY-100.Additional Course Description from Prof H:
In this course you will have the opportunity to explore a number of theories about communication in human relationships. We will look at communication across a variety of relationships (e.g., counseling, business, romantic, etc…). Additionally, you will have the chance to practice and analyze various communication skills, while integrating this experience with existing theories.
