2012 WINTER SEMINAR SERIES

New York's Energy Future


The Environmental Science, Policy & Engineering program at Union College kicks off the Winter seminar series Wednesday, 18 January 2012. This is the 15th year that this series has been run by the ESP&E program. Since its inception, this seminar series has tackled some of the key environmental issues that we face as a society. The first winter seminar was in 1998 on the topic of "Global climate change."

Victor Abate, vice president for Renewable Energy at General Electric in Schenectady
A graduate of Union College, he oversees one of the world's
major developers of alternative energy equipment


Wednesday, Feb. 15, 7:00 PM
Frank Murray, president and CEO of New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
Head of the leading state agency charged with
funding research and development of alternative energy


Thursday, Feb. 23, 7:00 PM
Andrew Revkin, Journalist, author of the New York Times' Dot Earth Blog, and senior fellow at Pace University
A leading environmental journalist, he is a two-time winner of
the National Academies Communication Award


Wednesday, March 7, 7:00 PM
Kathleen Segerson, University of Connecticut
An environmental economist and a
member of the Environmental Protection Agency's Science Advisory Board

All talks are free and open to the public. All are at 7 PM in the Nott Memorial. Parking is available on campus a short walk to the Nott Memorial.
