INTRODUCTION
Version 2.0
Feb. 2010This short note presents the average daily mean flow for the Mohawk River as averaged from instrumentally monitored values taken from 1917 to 2000. The mean daily values have been taken from the USGS Water Resources Data web page for USGS Station: 01357500 MOHAWK RIVER AT COHOES NY. The daily data are plotted here for the full year, but note that the month of Janaury is repeated at the end. The solid black line is a 2 pt. moving average.
The maximum mean daily discharge is 18,430 cfs on 6 April and the minumum mean daily discharge of 1446 cfs occurs on 23 August. Please note that these values are averages and cannot be used to reliably predict discharge throughout the year. Averaged out are many large discharge events that occur through out the year.
cfs = Cubic feet per second
Graph showing the estimate total annual discharge for the Mohawk River for the period between 1917 to 2008. This graph was constructed using daily discharge numbers and summing the total dishcage for the entire year. Original discharge data are from the USGS station at Cohoes Falls, near the confluence with the Hudson River.
