Mohawk Watershed Symposium 2009
Oral presentations - Guidelines
Olin Center, Union College 27 March

This is an overview of the technical details of all oral presentations in the technical session for the Mohawk Watershed Symposium. The TECHNICAL PROGRAM SCHEDULE is here.

** Please note that we have a full scheudle that is very tight. Your talk must stay within the allotted time. Speakers will be warned of concluding time, and then asked to wrap up if they exceed their allotted time. Please practice your presentation so that you can stay within the time bounds. ***

All oral presentations will be at a podium in a large lecture hall (Olin auditorium). The podium has controls for the AV system and it sits on the ground level to the left of the large screen (as viewed by the audience). All oral presentations accompanied with slides and/or images must use Microsoft Powerpoint. The lecturn has both PC and Macintosh capabilites, but we would prefer that all are saved and formatted for PC. It is essential that all speakers load thier presentation onto the system during the break that preceeds their group of talks. For the early morning talks, this means getting the files loaded before the symposium starts, so please plan accordingly. If you are nervous about getting your talk loaded in time, you can send to the conveners beforehand provided the file size is <15 Mb.

All volunteered oral presentations are scheduled to be 15 minutes long, with the excpetion of three invited talks (see schedule). There is two minutes between talks for questions and transition. The session will be strictly moderated, and the session moderator will interrupt speakers who look likley to surpass their time limit. This rigid time table is essential to maintaining the integrity of the coffee and food breaks, which are catered.

Note that we have room for additional posters. So, if oral presenters would like to also put up a poster, or elements of a poster, they are encouraged to do so. This will extend dicussions and will liven up the coffee breaks.

Macintosh users: Please make all Powerpoint slides by inserting images. Do not drag and drop images into the empty slide as this results in a TIFF compression issue that is not easily rectificed using a PC.
