Coverage
- The coverage of Quiz 1 is all
the material in chapters 1, 2, 3, and page one of handout [3A]
and its associate balance sheet, AND
the material covered in class.
- Please see handouts [1] and [2] for details of
which questions you may skip.
Question types (based on material covered in class,
in the textbook and in MyEconLab)
- There will be some multiple-choice questions.
- There will some computational questions.
- There will some questions involving short answers
and/or graphs.
Date, time, and place
- Quiz 1 will take place on Thursday, January 24,
in our regular classroom (Wold 225). It will start at
the beginning of class and run for 45 minutes.
What to bring
- Make sure to bring a basic calculator, ruler, and a
writing implement. Paper will be provided. There is NO
pencil-sharpener in the room. The use of a cell phone as a
calculator, or for any other purpose, will not
be allowed.
Other matters
- This is a CLOSED-BOOK quiz.
- You need to know how to do the balance sheets on page 1 of [3A].
- There will be NO EXTENSION of the time
period. Time management is part of the educational
process. All quizzes will be collected exactly 45 minutes
after the beginning of class. After a
10-minute break we will resume class.
- No bathroom trips will be allowed for this
45-minute quiz (medical cases, upon prior notification, will be
exempted).
- At the request of some folks, I have, reluctantly,
put answers to end-of-chapter questions on reserve at the Library. The reasons for my reluctance are (a) the answers
are not complete; in our quizzes and exams you must show ALL
your calculations, (b) there may be some typos in the answers, (c)
you must read the textbook as well as do the back-of-the-chapter
questions; sole reliance on those questions is not advisable.
For copyright reasons, I cannot post the answers to the website.
- Do NOT memorize
questions/problems and their answers. Rather, make sure you
know exactly how to solve
problems/answer questions.
