(AcCSC) Minutes of Meetings:
Present: Batson, Boyer, Keller, Klein, Sener, Traver, Wolf
Review of last meeting's minutes Cabling:
OC3 line being laid; our router is not
working right; Verizon is trying to get things right. Copyright: Tom gathered the best information; online and from personal contacts, and created a large binder of “best practice” information. Dave eliminated duplication, and condensed the material. The basic gist is that we support national (and international?) law. This is not itself a legal document, it is an attempt to interpret the law. On page 17, copyright in distance education, this is a murky area; the draft includes six pages from Kenneth Crews at Indiana University. This document will work better as a web site, so that users are directed to the relevant site. The understanding is that if a college employee making a good faith effort to follow the guidelines, the College will back the employee. We should probably review and, where necessary revise, these guidelines annually. Question for Tom
M.: What is the status of digital reserve? Wireless: Have a wireless pilot running; 29 students have cards we gave. Nearly full coverage in the Nott. (Access point is 3rd floor near elevator. Dutch Hollow is nearly ready, we are waiting for a cable. Olin learning center; and a bit outside. Second floor Steinmetz. 1 and 2 floors of Library. Distance Learning. GMI project is at the State for approval, slated to begin this Summer, pending approval. OCS has some requests for BlackBoard for next term. Next meeting: March 2, 2001 9:45am
