Review of last
meeting's minutes
1. Copyright Policy. Tom McFadden has agreed to be Union's Copyright Officer.
He will oversee development and enforcement of campus copyright and intellectual property rights policy.
The College's copyright policy is completed (including lawyer approval),
and will be put online.
2. Blackboard. Last week's Blackboard rollout was a success; see http://www.union.edu/RESOURCES/curriculum/blackboard/blackboard.shtml
Approx 43 faculty plus about 7 others = total of about 50 people attended
in Humanities 019. The summer training schedule for Blackboard has
been announced. Online sign-ups at: http://www.union.edu/RESOURCES/curriculum/blackboard/summerworkshops/
3. Distance Learning. AAC continues to discuss the charge for the Distance Learning
Sub-council. The group is not expected to be formed until Fall.
4. Classrooms and hardware upgrades.
There have been several meetings to discuss more efficient
use of Olin classrooms and NWSE 210, and the desire to relocate the CS lab.
The following decisions have been taken:
- Computers will be removed from NWSE 210, making it a presentation
classroom; power and network connections will be added to the desktops so
that students can easily bring in notebook computers.
- A PC will be added to the lectern in Olin 107, making it possible
to use as a PC presentation classroom. It
will remain a Mac collaborative classroom.
- Olin 110 will become the CS teaching lab. The room will
also include one IVDS space.
- Lockable storage facilities will be added to Olin 307 so that
Geology can store lab equipment.
- Computers in most of the PC classrooms in Olin will be replaced
this summer, and the Library will replace most public access computers.
The Library also plans to extend its wireless network throughout the
building and onto Library Plaza.
5. Scheduling: Mike Jessup has a scheduling software
demo.
