Review of last meeting's minutes

1. Summer Orientation.  With the cancellation of summer orientation, it will be necessary to review and revise the ways we exchange information with entering freshmen.  The following people will meet to review these requirements:
D. Cossey; D. Klein; D. Keller; D. Winkler; P. Adey; K. Rosenthal, T. Smith.  The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28.

2. Web Advising. Based on some feedback from the faculty, ITS just completed and installed some additions to the new Academic Audit advising system. We were able to install these improvements just in time for the preregistration advising period which starts next week. Here are the improvements:

  • Added fields to display the student's "major", "level" (freshman, soph, etc…), and "advisor's name"
  • Made all department chairs "super advisors" so they can view all advisees.
  • Added memory to the computer to give it more power to handle the increased use by faculty.
  • Added more Datatel licenses to the computer to handle the increased use by faculty.
  • Put Janet Mattis, Lloyd Treadwell, and Paul Willing, on the system.
  • Added a web link to Doug's advising web page.
  • And, added a more prominent message about not using the "Back" button on the browser.

3. Intellectual Property Rights.  Tom M. distributed a revised policy, much shortened and reflecting the discussion from last meeting.  He will forward it to the College lawyer for comments.  We will still need to draft or find sample agreement documents for cases in which IP rights are to be shared, or owned by the College.

4. IBM day.  Friday, March 8 will be IBM day on campus.  All are urged to attend the product demos around campus,  and the roundtable on Converging Technologies at 10:00 in the Nott.

As part of the event, the new Union CT website will be unveiled.  It is still in development (so don't publicize it), but if you have any comments or suggestions, let Peter Blankman in the Communications Office know.

The meeting adjourned at 3:25
