Minutes of Meetings:
May 31, 2002; virtual meeting; announcements only.

Present:  Batson*, Bauman*, Cossey*, Keller*, Klein*, Lesh,* McFadden*, Sener*, Smith*, Traver*, Tredwell*

Review of last meeting's minutes. (Note: no meeting was held on May 23)

1. Conference.  Thanks to all who made last week's Collaborating with Technology conference such a success. We have gotten many congratulatory notes, and think people even learned a lot.

Kesheng and Tom S. will be working on putting up some streaming video of the event. Engineering and ML are working hard to implement some of the things learned from the URI experiences with internationalizing engineering, and I have hopes that seeds have been planted to bring engineering and the Theater program together to do something with telerobotic theater.

2. IVDS. We are also trying to hatch another IVDS project between Union and Cordoba, Spain. We will have a two video conferences between the schools in June to discuss possibilities.

3. Web archiving.  We are coming down the home stretch in trying to get money for our web archiving project, which we began at our conference earlier this month. The draft report from that workshop is at the web site: http://www.union.edu/PUBLIC/ECODEPT/kleind/wwwarchive/index.html

News flash: June 5.  We got the grant.

4. Online scheduling software.  Thursday morning (tomorrow/today, depending on when you read this) at 10 am in Stmz. 106 there will be a demo of the online calendar/schedule system we have been discussing. If you want to stick your head in for a few minutes, feel free.

5. e-Portfolios. I will be in Vermont at the first e-Portfolio consortium meeting next Monday. Unfortunately Connecticut College failed to get the Mellon grant they were hoping for, so much of the discussion will be how to move forward with no money. A common theme.

6. Becker Center.  This week Friday at 2pm is the OFFICIAL re-opening of the Becker Center as the Becker Career Center.

Next meeting: June 6, 3:30 PM

*Virtual presence.
