CURRICULAR DESIGN SPECIALIST

(12 Month Administrative Position)
Union College is seeking an individual whose principal responsibilities will be to assist the faculty in their use of technology to support and enhance the curriculum and to supervise a team of part time student employees who will work with faculty members. The selected candidate will also work closely with faculty leaders in developing and giving faculty workshops and will assist Union in accomplishing the goals of a recently awarded Mellon Foundation grant.
Qualifications: Candidates should have an advanced degree (a PhD degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences preferred; advanced degree in Instructional Technologies also considered) and successful teaching experience in the Humanities or Social Sciences in a liberal arts college. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of, and experience with, the integration of state-of-the-art audio, video and computing technologies in classroom instruction, a ready and broad knowledge of both hardware and software applications and capabilities and their application to classroom instruction, experience with Macintosh and Windows based computers, excellent communications skills (written and oral) and technical knowledge of traditional and leading-edge audio-visual and multimedia technologies and how they can be integrated into the college classroom and a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people and disciplines, especially in interdisciplinary situations. Instructional design experience, service and/or support experience in a higher education setting, commitment to collaborative work environments and an ability to handle multiple priorities are also important.
