You MUST sign-out and return any equipment through the Lab Tech.
The Lab Tech's extension is X6203. You MUST acquire any necessary
or additional supplies from him. Always return borrowed equipment
directly to the photo tech. NEVER leave equipment outside his office
door.
The Lab Tech
is here as per his posted hours, but keep in mind that he has
other responsibilities for the college. He may not be in his office
at every moment. Plan ahead for acquiring equipment and supplies.
You will have
card access to the studio and black and white darkrooms. You must
keep those rooms locked when you are not present in them. Never
leave personal items unattended.
You may never
leave water running if you are not present.
When enrolled
in a photography class, you have access to the photography department
during Visual Arts building hours [8:30 AM - 11:00 PM] and you will
be included on an access with security. If the building is locked,
you may call security for access.
There is no
"curfew" per-say in the darkroom. You have 24 hour access
to the facilities. However, after 11 PM no one is allowed in the
darkrooms by themselves. In otherwords, you must bring a
friend or another photography student to keep you company. You
may not work alone overnight in the facilities. This is for
safety reasons and the policy has to be strictly adhered to.
If you encounter
a problem in the darkroom, please detail it on the sign-in sheets.
The Lab Tech will perform daily maintenance and remedy any problems.
You must sign-in
and out of the darkroom, shooting studio, mountroom, and film room.
This is critical to keeping the facilities running smoothly. Also,
Professor Benjamin will review sign-in sheets to see who is working
outside of class time.
When using any
of the darkrooms or the studio, you must clean up after yourself
and when you leave you must:
- turn off
all lights (including safe lights)
- turn off
all water
- turn off
the ventilation systems
- cover Chemical
trays
- close enlargers
- turn off
timers
- turn off
and unplug all mount presses and tacking irons.
All classes
are mandatory. An e-mail or voice-mail message about your absence
does not excuse you from class.
