SHOOTING ASSIGNMENT-
Tuesday we will learn to develop film in class. Have one roll of film about Light finished and bring it to the beginning of the class. Take pictures in natural light, shoot early in the morning and late in the afternoon for best results. You are free to set up photo ideas or go out and find interesting things to shoot in interesting ways.
Robert Capa said “If your photographs are not good enough, you are not close enough.”
Experiment with close-ups, vantage point [shoot from low angles, shoot from above, don’t shoot everything from eye level only], and always notice what the angle of the light is and how it changes depending on where you put the camera.
Look through your camera a lot to find interesting angles and to notice how things look differently through a lens than with your eyes. I you have a zoom lens you should leave it at one focal length [50mm] as you learn about seeing with a camera. Focus exactly. Squeeze off the shot instead of jabbing the shutter release [leading to camera movement].
Hold the camera properly to insure a sharp image. Shoot at 1/125 or faster to insure sharpness. Learn your light meter right away, so you can go about just making pictures.
