As promised, here are a few images of the Nanjing Normal University itself, the Nanshan Hotel where students are staying, and a peek at student rooms. The university is situated in the Northwest part of the city. It is conveniently located near the city center, Xuanwu Lake, the old city wall, and the Wutaishan Sports Stadium. If they're lucky, students might get to watch the Nanjing soccer team play a match or two. Outside the main gate of campus there are countless small restaurants for students to try foods from different regions in China. The campus itself is beautiful. It is full of trees and flowers, and winding passageways up and down hills. It also boasts Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.) architecture! Upon comparison with Nanjing University, located nearby, one student has already observed that Nanjing Normal is by far the best campus around.
Students are housed at the Nanshan Hotel. On the first floor there is a Karaoke room, Internet Cafe, and convenience store. On the 9th floor there is a fitness room. The university track and basketball courts are nearby. There are approximately 300 foreign students studying Chinese and living at the hotel. Union students are housed on the 3rd floor. Two students share a room equipped with air conditioning, a bathroom and shower, two beds, desk and chair, and a television. Although they've been living there for only two days, you can see how students have begun to settle into their new dorm life!
