11.8 Depart Nanjing at 19:30 for train station. Board Train K66 for Beijing
11.9 Arrive Beijing 8:31 and tour Tiananmen, Forbidden City. Stay at the Huangyuan Hotel. Beijing duck dinner
11.10 Visit the Great Wall and Ming Tombs. Stay at the Huangyuan Hotel
11.11 Visit the Summer Palace, Tiantan. Stay at the Huangyuan Hotel
11.12 Self-guided tour of various sites around Beijing, such as Wangfujing, Xidan, etc. Arrive back at the hotel by 5:00 PM. Depart Beijing for Nanjing on train #65
11.13 Arrive Nanjing 7:41 AM
11.8 The train ride was a first experience for everyone. Hard sleep turned out not to be so bad after all.

Because we had some time to kill before dinner, our tour guide brought us to a local hospital where traditional Chinese medicine doctors give a brief lecture and demonstration on the efficacy of Chinese medicine. Doctors were even on hand for consultation. Students were surprised at how the doctor diagnosed their symptoms just by feeling their pulse, talking to them, and looking at their tongue.
Of course a trip to Beijing would not be complete without the taste of Beijing Duck. Students said it was the best meal they've ever tasted. Then again, they seem to say that at just about every meal. Nevertheless, Beijing Duck is definitely a unique experience.
