FRN-147:
Narrative Studies: The French Novel from the Revolution to the Great War

This course examines French literature from the Revolution to the Great War. Through narratives written by the most representative French writers in the nineteenth century, we will capture the complex and unstable events that partly shaped the history of France between 1800 and 1914. Balzac, Flaubert, Maupassant, and Bernadin de Saint Pierre have translated those events into literature from realism to romanticism.
